Well, there might come a scenario when you need to access the older version of a webpage.
Maybe you want to check out the earlier design elements present on the webpage or the content present in it.
To help users be able to do this task, Google has announced a new feature that integrates links to Internet Archive’s (Wayback Machine) in the search result.
Through this feature, users can now check the earlier versions of a webpage.
Steps to Access Webpage Older Version in Google Search
This new feature is part of Google’s existing “About this result” feature.
To check the earlier version of a webpage, you just need to tap on the hamburger menu (three vertical dots) present just aside the web page ranking on Google and then click on About this result > More about this page.
Limitations
Now, while this feature has been rolled out globally, it may not work for all the websites. For example, if the website owner has chosen to opt out of archiving or if the webpage violates any content policies.
The main aim of this collaboration between Google and Internet Archive is to improve the access of historical content.
